Delta Air Lines says it is cutting two routes at Detroit Metro Airport this summer until 2027.
Weekend service between DTW and Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is being shifted to summer 2027, and a route between DTW and Sacramento International Airport (SMF) will be paused beginning June 1, and will return in March 2027.
The two Michigan routes are among seven Delta Air Lines routes facing scheduling changes across the U.S. and Caribbean this season.
The Atlanta-based airline says the decision is based on a number of operational factors, and did not specify fuel, but many airlines have been working to boost revenue and trim expenses amid surging fuel prices since the start of the war in Iran.
“Delta routinely adjusts its network as part of its normal planning process,” the airline said in a statement to USA TODAY. “As part of our summer planning, we’ve made select adjustments across a small number of routes. Delta evaluates a range of factors when making these decisions and continues to offer extensive service for customers. We will directly contact any impacted customers with alternate options.”
