Texas A&M’s Maroon & White Game has come and gone, and while the takeaways were slim, third-year head coach Mike Elko and his staff have hosted the most blue-chip prospects in the country this spring, and after landing 2027 five-star edge Zyron Forstall, the Aggies have reportedly gained significant momentum with the No. 1-ranked offensive tackle in the 2027 cycle.
After arriving on Wednesday night, 2027 five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews has been in College Station for the last three days, set to depart on Sunday afternoon, and attended the Maroon & White Game on Saturday. Already hosting the blue-chip big man late last month, Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong stated on Sunday that the Aggies are now “surging” for the top-ranked tackle.

So far, Elko has landed commitments from four-star tackles DeMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Scott, and has already received a prediction to land five-star IOL Albert Simien, who recently raved about his recent visits to College Station. If the Aggies can reel in Matthews and Simien, Texas A&M’s offensive line will be set for years to come.
“The Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas five-star was making his second visit of the spring and to say it’s going well would be an understatement. Matthews was still in Aggieland Sunday morning after arriving late Wednesday night. Miami may be the Rivals Prediction Machine favorite, but they have their hands full with Texas A&M and No. 3 overall prospect in America could end up in a 2027 class that Rivals already ranks No. 1 nationally.”
Third-year offensive line coach Adam Cushing also deserves praise for his constant communication with every priority O-line prospect, as the Aggies’ focus on family, culture, and development continues to pay off, and could result in Mark Matthews choosing Texas A&M as his next home.
