Michigan woman sentenced for running over ex-husband with car

A woman convicted of running over her then-husband in Macomb County last year has been sentenced, officials said.

Alaina Fain, 39, was given 18 months of probation by a Macomb County Circuit Court judge, according to authorities.

In addition, the judge ordered Fain to complete a mental health assessment and a batterer’s intervention program, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said. The judge also banned her from possessing any weapons and from being within 500 feet of her ex-husband, officials said.

“It is important to remember that sentencing ultimately rests in the hands of the court,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement. “In this case, the judge exercised that authority by ordering probation, a mental health assessment, and participation in a batterer’s intervention program, measures designed not only to hold the offender accountable, but to provide a pathway toward rehabilitation and avoid recidivism.”

Fain’s attorney, Kevin Bessant, was not immediately available for comment on Wednesday.

Her sentencing comes about a month after she pleaded no contest to assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence. She faced up to four years in prison for the assault charge and 93 days in jail for domestic violence.

Authorities alleged Fain drove a GMC Acadia over her spouse in a Warren parking lot on June 13, 2025.
