CHARLOTTE — Eaton County’s elections administrator has been appointed to serve the remainder of Diana Bosworth’s term as county clerk and register of deeds.
Kimberly Morris was chosen for the appointment by Eaton County Circuit Judges Janice Cunningham and Kelly Morton.
Bosworth, a longtime county employee who has been the elected clerk for more than 13 years, plans to retire at the end of April. Her current term expires at the end of 2028.
Morris would have to run in the 2028 election if she wants to continue in the job after the end of that year.
County officials did not say how many people applied for the appointment.
“With 15 years of service to Eaton County, Kimberly has developed exceptional knowledge, strong leadership skills, and meaningful professional relationships,” Cunningham said in a news release. ” In her current role as Elections Administrator, she has demonstrated a clear understanding of the high standards required to maintain public trust and confidence in this office – standards that have been upheld throughout Clerk Bosworth’s tenure. Eaton County is fortunate to have Kimberly step into this important role.”
