Rapper Offset 'up and walking' after release from Florida hospital

The rapper Offset was released from a Florida hospital Friday, April 10 following being shot outside a casino earlier in the week.

“Offset has been released from the hospital and he is up and walking,” a representative for Offset said April 10, according to The Associated Press. “We’re incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, and the entire hospital staff who took such great care of him.”

Kiari Kendrell Cephus, better known professionally as Offset, was injured after a shooting that took place outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood on Monday, April 6.

The songwriter and rapper thanked supporters with the photo of a handwritten note posted on social media the day he was released from the hospital.

“Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love! I’m good….but I’m planning to be better! I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music…realizing that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses…”

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Who is the rapper Offset shot outside a Florida casino?

The 34-year-old was a member of the hip-hop trio, Migos.

Fellow Migos member, Kirsnik Khari Ball – known as Takeoff – died after being shot outside a Houston bowling alley in November 2022. In 2024, Offset told USA TODAY that the pain of Ball’s death hasn’t eased at all.

“I just keep pushing and keeping a positive thought process because that’s what he would want me to do,” he said. “I pray and keep family close. I hear him talking to me here and there and giving me signs to keep pushing.”

Offset was formerly married to Cardi B, with whom he shares three of six children.
