Madison County Sheriff's Office investigating missing veteran plaques

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a string of larcenies after several veteran’s plaques from headstones at the Lenox Rural Cemetery were found missing.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, the Lenox Rural Cemetery, located at 7196 Nelson Road in Canastota had 10 bronze veteran’s plaques removed from headstones, within an unknown timeframe.

Each of the plaques measures 24 inches long by 12 inches wide by three-quarters inches thick and weighs approximately 18 pounds.

Anyone with knowledge of the thefts of the veteran’s plaques are asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at 315-366-2311
