Gunfire erupts in Haines City subdivision, leaving one man dead

Haines City police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late in the evening of April 3.

In a news release, police said officer responded at 11:48 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the Charles Cove subdivision. The neighborhood is off of Massee Road west of U.S. 27, behind AdventHealth Heart of Florida Hospital.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in his late 20s with multiple gunshot wounds outside a residents. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Haines City police refused to identify the victim or give an age. He was a resident of the neighborhood, and police spokesperson said.

Based on early information, the release said it appears to be an isolated incident, and there’s no immediate danger to the public.

No suspects were in custody as of the afternoon of April 4. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Haines City Police Department.
