MANITOWOC – Come one, come all! The Masquers have a scrumdiddlyumptious treat for you. Manitowoc’s beloved local theater company is bringing the world-sensational musical “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” to the Capitol Civic Centre.
The beloved Roald Dahl classic has jumped from the page to the stage. And that’s not all: The Masquers is bringing real-life Wonka magic to Manitowoc alongside some favorite local businesses.

Beerntsen’s has golden ticket chocolate bars and free show tickets
Since 1932, the historic Beerntsen’s Confectionery (108 N. Eighth St.) has been a staple in Manitowoc for chocolate and candy lovers. Taste and quality are always at the forefront in every Beerntsen’s creation.
The beloved candy store is well-known for its handcrafted chocolates, traditional candies and ice cream — all made using old-fashioned methods, such as copper kettles and hand-dipping techniques.
A variety of delectable goodies are always on hand: chocolate oysters, turtles, fresh-roasted nuts, as well as delicious lunch and dessert options.
To promote “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Beerntsen’s has created its own version of the iconic Golden Ticket chocolate bar. Hidden within the wrapping of these special bars are five golden tickets. Each winner (and a plus one) will receive a free ticket to any one of the performances (May 7-9) of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” There’s a limit of two bars per customer. Beerntsen’s is open 10 a.m.-8 pm. daily.

In honor of the production’s literary roots, copies of the Roald Dahl classic “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will be available at The Nook (211 N. Ninth St.) at a 10% discount for the month of April.

Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination.
This crowd-pleaser is your golden ticket to an outrageous, toe-tapping ensemble musical with plenty of delicious characters to entertain you all night long.
The play features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman, with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (“Hairspray”), and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to songs from the 1971 motion picture (the Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley score), including “Candy Man,” “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” “Oompa Loompa Song” and “Pure Imagination.”
