A dance studio owned by Drew Lachey, a member of the 98 Degrees boy band and the season 2 winner of “Dancing with the Stars,” and his wife, Lea Lachey, is closing.
Lachey Arts, located at 5517 Fair Lane in Fairfax, will close its studio doors May 14, according to an Instagram post from the organization. Although the dance studio will cease operations, the March 26 post said the closure “is not a goodbye.”
Instead, the non-profit will shift its focus to other “creative endeavors” and “fresh opportunities.”
“This space has held so many unforgettable memories, and we are thankful for every dancer, artist, and supporter who brought it to life,” the announcement reads. “We can’t wait to share what’s next. The best is yet to come.”
The couple opened Lachey Arts, a 3,000-square-foot studio, in June 2020 in a converted warehouse located off Red Bank Road. The Lacheys, graduates of Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), decided to launch the non-profit so they could offer scholarships to underprivileged youth.
“People who can afford all the extra training and education get it,” Lea Lachey told The Enquirer in 2021. “When we started teaching at SCPA, we saw that there was this whole other group of kids who could benefit from additional training but couldn’t afford it. And there weren’t enough hours in the school day to give it to them there.”
