A beloved food trailer is leaving West Michigan, as ownership turns to greener, warmer pastures in Florida.
Brandon and Becky Kury, who operate Smoke’N Joe’s BBQ, took to social media March 23 to announce this season will be their last. The couple is relocating to Florida.
“We have decided to move to a location where the weather is more favorable for our business and my health,” Brandon wrote. “Ever since my heart surgery, the cold has been absolute torture on my body.”
The couple doesn’t foresee moving until November, given a busy summer catering schedule. The food trailer — which specializes in ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, macaroni and cheese and potato salad — has officially launched for 2026.
The business is expected to be stationed in Holland at the corner of 32nd Street and Lincoln Avenue on Tuesdays, the Fennville Family Dollar on Fridays, and the Lyons Farm Market at the corner of M-89 and Blue Star Highway on Saturdays.
“(We’ll) add more days as the weather gets warmer and more events are happening in the area,” Brandon wrote, adding hours typically begin at 11 a.m.
The decision to move wasn’t easy, particularly given the support of the community.
“It has been an amazing nine years operating here,” Brandon wrote. “Thank you all for your tremendous support over the years. (We) love you all.”
