The complex website markets the development as “premier student living near MSU.” Most MSU commencements were a week ago, which may have reduced the number of people in the building, 3839 Hunsaker Drive, off Chandler Road.

Neither Bath Township Fire Chief Mark Koonter nor complex representatives immediately responded to a messages seeking comment on Sunday, May 10.

The three-story building suffered substantial, photos show. The roof is collapsed and fire damage can be seen throughout top two floors of the structure.

The complex website highlights the benefits of the apartments for MSU students.

“Floor plans, amenities, and location combine to create an awesome off-campus living experience at The Village at Chandler Crossings,” the website promises. “Michigan State University is just 10 minutes away, and it’s only 3.7 miles to Spartan Stadium.”

One-bedroom units at the complex rent for $1,280 while two-, three- and four-bedroom units also are available. SIngle-room rent for four-bedroom units starts at $469 per person, according to the complex website.

Clinton County online records show the development is owned by The Village on Hunsaker LLC, based in Troy, Michigan.
