Many Easter and spring-themed festivities are scheduled in the High Desert in March and April, including religious-themed presentations, egg hunts, celebrations and other activities.
The first day of spring this year, marked by the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, happens on Friday, March 20, while Easter Sunday falls on April 5.
Hoppin Easter Fest
Barstow city officials will host a Hoppin’ Easter Fest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 21, at the Sport Park, 2800 Mayor Katy Parkway. The event will include an egg toss, egg hunt, jumpers, vendors and food trucks.
Spring Hoedown Showdown
The Wild Wind Ranch’s 2nd Annual Spring Hoedown Showdown fundraiser is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. on March 22, at 8871 Vincent Drive in Oak Hills. The event includes food and retail vendors, prizes, a petting zoo, a bounce house, hay/horse/pony rides and a bunny zoo.

Eggxtra Special Egg Hunt
The Rockn’ Our Disabilities Foundation will host its 10th Annual Eggxtra Special Egg Hunt Trunk & Carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 28, at the Epicentre at 17508 Hercules Street in Hesperia.

Calvary Chapel Old Town
Calvary Chapel Old Town will host two events at its campus at 15081 Center Park in Victorville.
Good Friday Communion from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 3. Organizers said visitors can stop by the main sanctuary anytime during these hours for a time of reflection, prayer and communion.
The church will also host a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. on April 5. There will also be services at 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Apple Valley Good Friday Service
Church of the Valley will host a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. on April 3, in The Sanctuary at 20700 Standing Rock Ave. in Apple Valley.
Victorville Good Friday Service
Victorville First Assembly will host a Good Friday Service at 7 p.m. on April 3, at the church at 15260 Nisqualli Road.
Victorville Egg Hunt
Bible Baptist Church will host an Easter Egg Hunt from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 4, at Mojave Vista Park, 16252 Burwood Avenue in Victorville. There will also be prizes and other activities.
Easter Eggstravaganza & Egg Hunt
The Optimist Club of Apple Valley will partner with the Town of Apple Valley Parks & Recreation to host the 59th annual Easter Eggstravaganza & Egg Hunt from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on April 4, at James Woody Park on Navajo Road in Apple Valley.
Children aged 10 and under are invited to participate in the free egg hunt. Children are also encouraged to bring baskets for gathering eggs. Victorville’s Spring Festival & Egg Hunt
Victorville city leaders will host the annual Spring Festival and Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 4, at Hook Park, 14973 Joshua St.
The free event will feature games, food and prizes. Age-divided egg hunts will be offered for $5 each through pre-registration only. Tickets for the egg hunt are on sale at VictorvilleCA.gov/Recreation. For more information, call 760-245-5551.
Hesperia Egg Hunt
The Hesperia Recreation and Park District will host an egg hunt from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 4 at Hesperia Community Park, 10200 Datura Road. The egg hunt scheduled by age includes:
Visitors should bring a basket to collect eggs and a camera to grab a photo with the Easter Bunny. The event also includes special hidden golden eggs, food trucks, bounce houses and vendors. While the event is free, parking is $5 per vehicle.
Easter Drama
The Church For Whosoever will present “The Whip, The Hammer & The Cross” live Easter drama at the church, 18628 Seneca Road in Apple Valley.
The free dramatic stage presentation follows the story of Jesus Christ, His life, death, burial and resurrection. Showtimes at 7 p.m. on April 3 and 4. For more information, visit facebook.com/cfwhd.
Apple Valley Bunny Run
The Town of Apple Valley’s Bunny Run 5k & 10K is scheduled with check-in at 7 a.m. on April 4, at James Woody Park, Field No. 8, at 13467 Navajo Road.
Participants will receive the first piece of a magnetized medal set, which can be completed during the upcoming Firecracker and Turkey runs later this year. The Bunny Run will include awards for first, second and third place in select age categories.

Easter Eggscapade
High Desert Second Chance will host its annual Easter Eggscapade from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 4, at 16666 Smoke Tree St. in Hesperia.

Calvary Chapel Sunrise Service
Calvary Chapel High Desert will present an Easter Sunrise Service at 5:15 a.m. on April 5, at Victor Valley College Stadium, on Mojave Fish Hatchery Road north of Bear Valley Road in Victorville.
Autism Awareness Egg Hunt
Soft Girl Social will host a sensory-friendly Easter Egg Hunt in honor of Autism Awareness Month at 1 p.m. on April 25 at Sunset Ridge Park, 12808 Eucalyptus Street, Victorville. The egg hunt will also include a golden egg surprise, Easter baskets for the kids, pictures with the Easter Bunny, food, drinks and a raffle to end the day.
