After saying two people were injured in a March 20 shooting at an apartment complex on Southwood Plantation Road, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office disclosed four days later that one of the victims had died on scene.
The shooting occurred at the Apalachee Point Apartments, just off Apalachee Parkway.

A March 24 Facebook post said “one adult male was transported to a local hospital. An adult female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. No arrest has been made at this time. This is an active and ongoing investigation.”
At the time, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shonda Knight said a call came in shortly after 7 p.m. about a shooting at that location. She said she believed two people were involved in the incident.
“We are still sorting through those details, but we don’t believe there’s anyone who causes a threat at this time,” she said.
Knight couldn’t immediately comment on possible injuries or whether anyone was in custody.
A day later, on March 21, she said two people had been injured in the shooting. “Our detectives have to figure out exactly what happened and how it happened,” Knight said.
Before the incident, four people had been killed and six injured this year in at least 11 shootings in Tallahassee and Leon County, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis.
Residents spoke out about the shootings in the comments section under LCSO’s Facebook post. “Tallahassee has changed so much,” one person wrote. “What’s going on with all this gun violence?”
