Check Wegmans grocery inspection grades in NY with our new database

Grocery store inspection results released in 2026 provided an updated look at food safety grades issued for Wegmans locations in New York.

The inspection grades are part of USA TODAY Network’s ongoing series exploring food safety inspections at the thousands of grocery stores, food warehouses, delis and related facilities spread across the state. That includes a new searchable database at data.lohud.com that allows New Yorkers to check inspection results and details for every grocery store statewide.

What to know about Wegmans food safety inspections

Wegmans grocery stores received mostly A’s during food safety inspections between January 2024 and January 2026, with that highest food safety grade accounting for a total of 90, or about 65%, of all inspection results for the company, data show.

But in New York, anything less than an A is considered a failing grade, and Wegmans saw dozens of such citations during the same time period. Inspectors can issue multiple safety grade citations during a single visit.

Wegmans has said the company works closely with private and non-profit organizations and government agencies to “stay at the forefront of food safety issues.”

“At Wegmans, a strong food safety culture is embedded in everything we do,” a company spokesperson told USA TODAY Network. “We’re incredibly proud of our store teams for their unwavering commitment to food safety and their ability to uphold the highest standards for our customers.”

The USA TODAY Network has spent the months taking a closer look at state inspection data for grocery stores, food warehouses, delis and bodegas. In 2024, one of every four of the 22,000 state inspections conducted by the department of Agriculture and Markets resulted in B or C grades.
