Texas A&M enters SEC play against Oklahoma on the road at 15-1, coming off Tuesday’s run-rule win over SFA behind another impressive performance at the plate, while the Aggie pitching has been equally impressive, outside of the team’s lone loss to UCLA. On Thursday, second-year head coach Michael Earley stated that two of the program’s star transfer additions had a chance to return to the lineup.
Former Maryland star shortstop Chris Hacopian and Baylor transfer outfielder Wesley Jordan have been dealing with injury issues over the last few weeks, and while Jordan has played in nine games, Hacopian has only played in three games, and after hitting his first home run during the Aggies’ run-rule win vs. Virginia Tech, the future MLB first-round selection re-aggrivated his back, and has been out of the lineup ever since.
However, Hacopian was seen working out during the pre-game portion of Tuesday’s warmup, performing various back exercises, and looking much improved from this writer’s vantage point. The fact that Hacopian, who is hitting .455 on the year, has only played three games is beneficial from a health perspective, while Jordan might need one or two more days before returning.
On Thursday night, the first injury report before Texas A&M faces Oklahoma in Norman, starting on Friday night, was released, which did not include Chris Hacopian, while Wesley Jordan is listed as “probable,” giving him a 75% chance to take the field. No. 12 Oklahoma will host No. 22 Texas A&M on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The game will air on SEC Network+.
