Nessel, Conlin to host 'Demystifying Data Centers' in Howell

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and State Representative Jennifer Conlin will host a nonpartisan townhall in Howell called “Demystifying Data Centers.”

The event runs 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 30. Location details will be sent to attendees via email March 29.

The free, public event aims to help residents understand the growing presence of data centers in Michigan, and will include expert panelists prepared to speak on environmental impacts, consumer protection, labor considerations, municipal effects and the role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) legislation.

The event comes to Livingston County just months after a proposed data center became a bipartisan rallying cry in Howell Township. The project’s application was withdrawn in December after officials passed a six-month moratorium on the establishing, permitting, consideration, approval, location, construction or installation of data centers.

The moratorium was designed to give officials time to draft and approve local regulations.

Seats for the upcoming event are limited, and each registration covers one person only. Those interested in attending can register online at https://tinyurl.com/2nj6kzvb.
