The Miami Dolphins lost tight end Julian Hill to the New England Patriots on Wednesday, and with Darren Waller still on the market, they needed to make an addition to the room.
According to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are signing tight end Ben Sims to help fill out the position group.
Sims, 25, played at Baylor from 2018-22. catching 78 passes for 785 yards and 12 touchdowns. He went undrafted in 2023 and spent the offseason of his rookie year with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Green Bay Packers brought him aboard in August 2023 until October 2025, where he crossed over with new Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley. After his release, he returned to the Vikings to finish the 2025 season.
Sims has appeared in 45 games in his career, serving mostly as a blocker, but he’s also hauled in 11 passes for 93 yards and one score.
In Miami, Sims joins Greg Dulcich, Jalin Conyers, Cole Turner and Zack Kuntz in the tight end room.
