Chabad House Palm Beach will host a “Chabad Love Story” Shabbat dinner May 1, featuring a presentation by a couple whose backgrounds span different cultures and professions.
The program will begin at 7 p.m. with Kabbolas Shabbos services, followed by a Shabbat dinner at 7:45 p.m., according to a release.
The presentation will feature Matt and Yael Trusch, who will discuss their journey together. Matt Trusch is a Jewish educator and performer who spent several years working in China, while Yael Trusch is a Jewish financial educator, speaker and podcast host of Puerto Rican heritage. She also has experience in finance on Wall Street.
The couple has worked on translating religious texts, including an upcoming Chinese edition of the Alter Rebbe’s “Tanya” and a Chinese version of “My Prayer,” according to a statement released by Chabad.
“Once a rising actor in Chinese television, Matt was living a life of glamor and fame before a chance encounter with a Chabad rabbi in Shanghai turned his life upside down, or rather, right-side up,” Rabbi Zalman Levitin told the Daily News. ““Yael was climbing the corporate ladder until a deeper calling led her to explore Torah, Shabbos and building a meaningful Jewish life. We are thrilled to welcome Matt and Yael to Palm Beach.”
“Chabad Love Story” is open to the public, and admission is $50. Reservations are available at PalmBeachJewish.com/Shabbaton or by calling the Chabad office at 561-659-3884. The program is sponsored by Eric and Svetlana Silverman in memory of Lila bas Moshe Silverman.
Chabad House Palm Beach is at 361 S. County Road.
