The New York Giants have re-signed veteran tight end Chris Manhertz to a one-year deal, ensuring his return for the 2026 season.
The agreement, first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday morning, via Manhertz’s agent, keeps the blocking specialist in New York for his second year with the team and his 12th NFL season overall.
Manhertz, a Bronx native who transitioned to football after a college basketball career at Canisius, originally joined the Giants as a free agent in March 2024 following stints with the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Denver Broncos.
In 2025, he appeared in all 17 games, starting 11, and played 208 offensive snaps while contributing 218 on special teams.
Known primarily for his top-tier blocking ability—particularly as a run blocker—Manhertz excels in creating lanes for the ground game, aligning well with head coach John Harbaugh’s emphasis on physical, run-heavy schemes from his time with Baltimore and beyond.
Though his receiving production remains modest throughout his career (30 receptions for 308 yards and three touchdowns across 154 games), Manhertz’s value lies in his reliability as a sixth offensive lineman type.
This re-signing provides continuity to the Giants’ tight end room and offensive line support as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
