Bleacher Report’s 2026 free-agent outlook links the Buccaneers to running back Tyler Allgeier and what he can do within Tampa Bay’s scheme.
Allgeier is a physical, downhill runner who excels between the tackles. At over 220 pounds, he consistently runs through contact, falls forward, and keeps offenses on schedule. That power running is exactly what Tampa Bay has lacked in early-down situations, especially near the goal line. For a Bucs offense that has struggled to convert short-yardage opportunities consistently, Allgeier’s style provides immediate stability.
Allgeier played under offensive coordinator Zac Robinson in Atlanta, giving him a built-in familiarity with the concepts Tampa Bay wants to run. Robinson knows how to use him in zone schemes, time his cuts, and maximize his downhill running while keeping him fresh for high-volume situations. He’s also seen Allgeier complement a dynamic teammate in Bijan Robinson, which shows he can carry early-down responsibilities without breaking the rhythm of a backfield.
From a production standpoint, Allgeier has proven he can handle starter-level workloads.
His 1,000-yard season shows he can sustain volume over a full campaign, not just chip in as a rotational option. In 2025, Allgeier rushed for 514 yards, but also 8 touchdowns behind Bijan Robinson, who many concede is the best in the league. Allgeier would have more opportunities in Tampa’s system, and paired with being back with Zac Robinson, could be a dream marriage between him and the Buccaneers. While he isn’t as explosive in open space as Rachaad White, his presence on early downs could open the passing game, help the offense maintain balance, and take pressure off the quarterback.
Having a punishing back who can not only complement Bucky Irving’s elusive, joystick-like play style but also convert short yardage situations could propel the Bucs running game to the next level. .
