Following news the U.S. military conducted a mission that killed the leader of Iran, a conservative radio host in Milwaukee called for someone to “now take out” the governor of Minnesota.
Dan O’Donnell, afternoon drive host on WISN-AM (1130), which is owned by iHeartMedia, has since deleted the March 1 posts on X.
“Now take out the Supreme Leader of Minnesota. We will be greeted as liberators,” O’Donnell posted.
He then replied to the tweet with an AI photo of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz wearing a black turban with the phrase “Death to fraud investigations!” in quotes.
Minnesota is in the midst of a large and evolving crackdown on potential social services fraud. Walz, who was the Democratic vice presidential nominee in the 2024 election, announced he would not seek reelection as governor.
Minnesota is also the state where last year a 57-year-old man is accused of shooting and killing a former House Speaker and her husband and injuring another lawmaker and his wife.
O’Donnell’s posts came just days removed from the beginning of the United States’ war with Iran in which Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes.
Six U.S. service members have been killed in the war so far, according to the U.S. military, as well as hundreds of Iranians.
O’Donnell, a vehement supporter of President Donald Trump and the “Make America Great Again!” movement, is known to go after the Democratic Party and members of the political left.
He is also often critical of journalists and played a major role in amplifying political posts from a Milwaukee meteorologist in January 2025, leading to her dismissal from the station.
O’Donnell didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. WISN-AM also did not immediately respond to a request.
