Temperatures in the low 40s, up to 40 mph wind gusts possible on Feb. 24

It’s expected to be a slightly warmer, but windy day in Indiana.

Temperatures are expected to rise to the low 40s during the day on Tuesday, Feb. 24, according to the National Weather Service. It’ll be a mostly cloudy day with wind gusts up to 40 mph before a slight chance of rain/snow moves in overnight.

NWS Indianapolis predicts temperatures will continue to increase throughout the day during the week with a high of 56 on the forecast for Saturday, Feb. 28, but then drop back to and below freezing in the evenings.

When is it going to snow?

It is most likely we will see rain or snow overnight Wednesday, Feb. 25, into Thursday, Feb. 26, according to the current forecast.

As we look toward the weekend, more rain and snow showers are possible due to the low temperatures we could continue to see overnight.

Tuesday, Feb. 24: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. South southwest wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Tuesday night: A slight chance of rain and snow between 11 p.m. and midnight, then a slight chance of rain after midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 32. West southwest wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday, Feb. 25: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. West wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday night: A chance of rain and snow before 1am, then snow likely. Increasing clouds, with a low around 31. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday, Feb. 26: A chance of snow, mixing with rain after 10 a.m., then gradually ending. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. East northeast wind around 6 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Friday, Feb. 27: Sunny, with a high near 53. Light south wind becoming south southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. South southwest wind around 7 mph.

Saturday, Feb. 28: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. West southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.

Saturday night: A slight chance of rain before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of rain and snow. Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. North wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday, Feb. 28: A slight chance of rain and snow. Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday night: A 40% chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Monday, March 1: A chance of rain and snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
