Michigan women’s basketball sophomore Olivia Olson was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday for her performances in the Wolverines’ last two games, wins over Northwestern and then on Sunday against Michigan State.
Olson had 21 points, eight rebounds and a career-high seven assists and two steals in 31 minutes in an 80-58 win at Northwestern. In the Wolverines’ 86-65 victory over MSU on Sunday at Crisler Center, Olson had 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.
This was the first Player of the Week honor for Olson, who leads the Wolverines in scoring, averaging 19.1 points and in rebounds with 6.0.
Michigan moved up a spot to No. 6 in the latest AP top-25 poll after those back-to-back wins. The Wolverines are 22-4, 13-2 Big Ten with three regular-season games remaining. They play at Iowa on Feb. 22 and then at Ohio State on Feb. 25 before the regular-season finale at home against Maryland on Feb. 28.
