With less than two weeks to go in the regular season on the boys basketball scene, let’s see where these group of teams stand right now with a few league races still in play.

(Rankings and results are through Monday.)

Wooster Daily Record boys basketball power rankings

10. Wooster 8-12 (5-8)

9. Triway 10-9 (6-4)

8. Waynedale 10-9 (6-6)

7. Chippewa 11-8 (6-6)

Wooster went 1-1 and Triway 2-0 last week, while Waynedale and Chippewa duked it out in overtime on Friday, where it was the Chipps grabbing a 72-70 home win, which was their second victory of the year over Waynedale. Both teams are firmly in the middle of the Wayne County Athletic League standings, with Chippewa looking like the more steady team towards the end of the season.

6. Central Christian 13-5 (6-1)

Central Christian hold an 8-3 record since the start of 2026, including winners in four of their last five games, that only involved a 52-44 loss to a 14-5 Lake Center Christian team. A key highlight in the Comets’ recent stretch is a 75-44 smashing on the road versus Mid-Buckeye Conference foe Mansfield Christian on Friday that pushed Central Christian into first place in the league with one more MBC game to play (vs. Lucas).

Big man Ruben Carr has come up big lately for the Comets and they will see the No. 8 ranked team in Waynedale (from our rankings) this week in a solid nonconference matchup.

5. Hillsdale 11-7 (8-4)

4. Norwayne 12-7 (10-2)

Since their big win at Norwayne on January 16th, Hillsdale has cooled off, as the Falcons are just 3-4 in their last seven games, having slipped to third in the WCAL standings.

Norwayne, on the other hand, has found a groove since the Hillsdale loss. The Bobcats have won five straight WCAL games, including getting back at Smithville on Friday with a 59-34 decision, after the Smithies defeated Norwayne by 18 points in early-January. The Bobcats shot 59 percent form the field and spread the wealth with 16 team assists.

With that, Norwayne is only a half-a-game back of Smithville in the league standings with two WCAL games left to play.

3. Smithville 15-5 (11-2)

As mentioned above, Smithville took a rough 25-point road loss at Norwayne on Friday that trimmed their WCAL lead to only a half-game but a win at Waynedale on Friday should give the Smithies at least a share of the league title, depending on what Norwayne does in their last two games.

2. Orrville 14-3 (9-2)

Orrville has won three in a row since they fell in two straight Principals Athletic Conference games. There’s still a chance for Orrville to get at least a share of the PAC title, if they can win its last two league games against Tuslaw and Canton Central Catholic, while hoping league-leading Akron Manchester slips up versus either Fairless or Triway.

1. Hiland 16-3 (11-0)

Nothing changes here with MaxPreps current No. 4 ranked team in Division VI. Hiland cruised in their two Inter Valley Conference wins over Ridgewood and Claymont, and could maybe get a test from the second-best team (Buckeye Trail) and third-best team (Malvern) in the conference this week before the postseason.
