CIF-SS soccer playoffs: 24 area teams learn their fate, top seeds revealed

The CIF-Southern Section playoff pairings for boys and girls soccer were released Saturday morning and 24 area teams will have a shot at capturing a title.

It’s a feat accomplished by the Apple Valley girls soccer team in 2024, and last by a boys team in 2020 by Oak Hills.

Last year, Sultana made a run to the CIF-SS Div. 1 championship game. The Sultans return to the Division 1 bracket this season after capturing the Mojave River League title for the first time in 10 years.

Sultana is one of 13 local squads that received first-round road games.

The boys soccer playoffs begin Wednesday, the same day as boys basketball. The girls soccer playoffs action begins Thursday, also the same day as girls basketball.

Three area teams received top-4 seeds in the brackets. The Hesperia boys are No. 4 in Division 2, while the Granite Hills boys are the top seed in the Division 4 bracket.

Apple Valley drew the No. 2 seed in the girls Division 4 bracket.

This is the second season that the CIF-SS used a computer-based system to determine playoff divisions, revamping the previous model of taking the previous two seasons to predetermine a team’s division before the season.

Here’s a look at the brackets, broken up by divisions.
