A 53-year-old woman died in a crash after failing to yield the right of way to another vehicle in Horizon City, authorities said.
Virginia Striplin of El Paso was driving a blue Nissan SUV about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the intersection of Eastlake Boulevard and Blingwood Street, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Priscilla I. Contreras said in a news release.
A silver Audi was being driven west on Eastlake Boulevard when Striplin in the eastbound lanes attempted to make a left turn onto Blingwood Street. The name of the Audi driver has not been released.
Striplin failed to yield the right-of-way and collided with the Audi, the news release states. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died from the injuries she suffered in the crash.
No further information has been released as an investigation is ongoing by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Traffic Investigators unit.
