Early voting starts Feb. 5. Here are Rockford area locations, times

ROCKFORD, IL — Early voting for the March 17 General Primary election in Illinois kicks off on Feb. 5.

For residents living in the city of Rockford, early in-person voting will take place at the Rockford Board of Elections office, 301 S. Sixth St. in Rockford.

From Feb. 5 through March 6, early in-person voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. From March 9 through March 13 and March 16, Monday through Friday hours will be extended to 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city office also will be open for early voting on select Saturdays and Sundays — 9 a.m. to noon on March 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 8, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 15.

For residents living in Winnebago County, early in-person voting will take place on the fifth floor of the county administration building, 404 Elm St. in Rockford.

From Feb. 5 through March 6, early in-person voting will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. From March 9 through March 13 and on March 16, Monday through Friday hours will be extended to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The county office also will be open for early voting on select Saturdays and Sundays — 9 a.m. to noon on March 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 8, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 14 and 15.

Where to vote off-site in Rockford and Winnebago County

Both the city and the county also will operate off-site voting centers in February and March.

The county’s center will be at the Harlem Alpine Shopping Center, 1965 Harlem Road in Loves Park. The center will be open for voting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays Feb. 18 through March 6 and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays March 9 through March 13 and March 16. Weekend hours will be 9 a.m. to noon March 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 14 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 15.

The city’s off-site voting center will be at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 412 N. Church St. in Rockford. The center will be open for voting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays Feb. 18 through March 6 and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 9 through March 13 and March 16. Weekend hours will be 9 a.m. to noon March 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 15.

“Early voting gives voters flexibility and convenience, allowing them to cast their ballot at a time that best fits their schedule,” Winnebago County Clerk Lori Gummow said in a news release. “We strongly encourage voters to take advantage of early voting options and avoid the rush on Election Day.”
