NEW WINDSOR – State police have accused a New Windsor man of child sexual exploitation.
David Mejia Sr., 47, of New Windsor, was arrested on Jan. 30 and charged with possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16 years of age and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age, both felonies, according to authorities.
Mejia was arrested as a result of an investigation that began in July 2025. According to state police, the investigation was a collaboration involving Troop F’s Computer Crimes Unit, Community Stabilization Unit, Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team, Major Crimes Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Montgomery barracks, and the FBI.
The investigation revealed that Mejia was in possession of images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children. As a result, a search warrant was executed at his residence in New Windsor in January 2026.
Mejia was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court on Jan. 31 and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Windsor Court on Feb. 10.
The name of his attorney was not immediately available.
