Bengals' big names are cut candidates so far

The Cincinnati Bengals have some notable cut candidates this offseason that could free up some big cap space.

Granted, the Bengals aren’t hurting for cap space. But if they can save a big chunk of change by moving on at a spot about to undergo alterations anyway, then it would be good business to make the call.

Hill is by far the least likely. He’s a carryover from the DJ Reader days and younger guys like Kris Jenkins Jr. haven’t developed quickly enough to take over. Either way, we’ll know if they cut Hill by March 15, as that’s the day he’s due a big roster bonus.

Slaton, though, is a really standard, expected Bengals cut candidate, given their history for usual dead-money cap cuts like this. He didn’t have a big impact while asked to help last year next to Hill.

Ford could be back as depth, but the number is hard to ignore.

The Bengals could also look at Jordan Battle ($3.6 million), Oren Burks ($2.3 million), McKinnley Jackson ($1 million) and a handful of others as smaller cuts worth making, spending on just how dramatically they want to rebuild the defense.
