Traffic was backed up in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 on Tuesday, Feb. 3, following an early-morning collision involving a semi truck.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash at around 1:03 a.m.. At around 1:47 a.m., a hazardous material team was dispatched to the location to contend with fuel leaking onto the road.
As of 8:30 a.m., traffic remained slowed around the Whitewater Adobe Rest Area for about five minutes. One lane remained closed, while another that had been closed had since reopened.
