Travelers looking to request re-accommodation on a different flight should contact Avelo’s Customer Solutions Center via its website between 6 a.m. to midnight. All Avelo passengers looking to rebook their flights must do so by Jan. 25.

Other major airlines have started canceling flights already

Airlines have started canceling flights for the next few days, with more than 420 already canceled and more than 600 delayed within, into, or out of the United States for today, Jan. 23, as of 8:30 a.m., according to flight-tracking site FlightAware.

On Saturday, more than 1,430 flights in the U.S. have already been canceled.

Several airlines have issued travel alerts, warning travelers about the storm system and waiving change fees for potentially affected flights. At least 80 U.S. airports have been listed as potentially affected.

Here’s what to know.

What should you do if your flight is delayed or canceled? Latest on rebooking, refunds

If your flight is canceled, use the airline’s mobile app to rebook as soon as possible, according to Scott Keyes, founder of Going. If you need to talk to someone, Keyes suggests calling one of the carrier’s international lines.

If your flight is canceled for any reason, you’re entitled to a full refund if you choose not to fly on alternative itineraries offered by your airline. The same goes for “significant” delays or changes.

Most major airlines have announced they are waiving change fees for anyone rebooking a weekend flight within the danger areas, with some restrictions on when you can rebook. Check now to see if you need to act.

Looking for warmer weather? Plan summer travel

If you’re dreaming of summer, it’s time to start planning this year’s vacation. Avelo unveiled its summer flights from Lakeland Linder airport earlier this week, offering bookings through Aug. 18.

The carrier will offer flights to eight destinations this summer out of Lakeland, the most of any of its Florida airports. Cities available range from Rochester, New York south to San Juan, Puerto Rico, largely along the East Coast, with the exception of Nashville,Tennessee.

The airline has hit pause on its two Lakeland routes to Michigan after Major League Baseball’s Spring Training season ends. The carrier’s the last flight to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (code DTW) on April 18 and Grand Rapids, Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford International Airport (code GRR) on April 19.

Prior Avelo travelers should be aware there’s a slight shakeup with the service offered to Atlanta, as it changes what days flights will be offered.
