Mid-Hudson Valley will see major snowstorm on Sunday. What to expect

After starting with a mostly sunny day on Saturday, the mid-Hudson Valley can expect a major snowstorm on Sunday this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Some locations could see more than a foot of snow before the storm is done.

The weather service says Saturday will be mostly sunny in Orange, Dutchess, Sullivan and Ulster counties, with daytime high temperatures in the teens in all four counties.

But then the clouds will roll in on Saturday night, and the overnight low temperatures will be in the single digits in all four counties. There is a 40 percent chance that snow will begin to fall sometime after 1 a.m.

By Sunday morning, the snowstorm will be well under way. There is a 90 percent chance of snow in all four counties.

As much as 8 to 12 inches of snow could fall during the day in Orange County, while Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan counties will see at least 5 to 8 inches of snow.

Daytime high temperatures will only be in the teens again in all four counties on Sunday.

On Sunday night, there is an 80 percent chance of more snow falling in Dutchess and Ulster counties, and a 70 percent chance of more snow falling in Orange and Sullivan counties.

An additional 5 to 8 inches of snow is expected in Dutchess and Ulster counties, while another 3 to 5 inches of snow is expected in Orange and Sullivan counties.

Sunday night will be cloudy, with overnight low temperatures in the single digits in Orange and Sullivan counties, and right at 10 degrees in Dutchess and Ulster counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Another 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall on Monday before the storm finally makes its exit.
