State fire marshals are investigating the cause of a fire Monday night south of Lubbock that damaged a handful of rental properties and mobile homes.
No injuries were reported from the blaze which was reported about 9:50 p.m. Jan. 12 in the 6200 block of East County Road 7260, according to a Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office news release.
One tenant was home at the time of the fire and managed to escape safely, the release states.
Crews with the Buffalo Springs, Woodrow, Ransom Canyon and Slaton fire departments responded to reports of a fire that spread to nearby rental and vacant mobile home properties.
“An exact count of structures affected has not been confirmed, but it is believed to have been less than five,” the release states.
By 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, county officials released information that the fire was contained, though Buffalo Springs firefighters remained on scene to take care of hot spots and ensure the fire didn’t reignite.
“The owners have been contacted and were not in need of services from the Red Cross,” the release states.
