The hottest ticket in South Florida — no, the whole country — is the College Football Playoff national championship game of Miami vs. Indiana. Both teams’ ravenous fanbases are on track to make this the most expensive ticket in the title game’s history.

It’s being called a perfect storm. The Hurricanes are the betting underdog and will be the designated visiting team as the No. 10 seed, but coach Mario Cristobal and his team will be playing in their home stadium, a place they haven’t been since Nov. 15, as UM looks for its first championship since the 2001 season. On the other side is the most unlikely undefeated No. 1 in recent history in the Hoosiers, who will look to be major college football’s first-ever 16-0 team. And they’re led by Heisman-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza, himself a Miami native.
