VOTE for Herald-Tribune Boys Athlete of the Week sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Health Network for Dec. 1-6

Each week The Herald-Tribune staff will select nominees for the Herald-Tribune Boys Athlete of the Week poll sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Network, Inc. Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Sarasota and Manatee county coaches during the week to htincoming@gmail.com. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine the Boys Athlete of the Week.

The Herald-Tribune Boys Athlete of the Week sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Health Network for Nov. 17-29, 2025, was Venice High football player Layne Kisovic, who won the poll with 30.44% of the vote. Kisovic, a senior, recovered a fumble and made an interception in a breakaway second half for Venice.

The nominees for the week of Dec. 1-6, 2025, are:

Football

Liam Bowers, Cardinal Mooney

Bowers, a senior kicker, went 4-of-5 on extra-point kicks, went 2-of-2 on field goals with a long of 36 yards, kicked eight kickoffs with one touchback and punted twice for 93 yards against Cocoa.

Marvon Harris, Cardinal Mooney

Harris, a freshman running back, rushed six times for 38 yards and a touchdown, made two tackles, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble against Cocoa.

Darryon Jones, Venice

Jones, a senior quarterback, made two long runs and two long throws to help the Venice offense stay in the game in an eventual state semifinal loss to Lake Mary.

Devin Mignery, Cardinal Mooney

Mignery, a senior quarterback, completed 3-of-4 passes for 69 yards and 2 TDs and rushed four times for 36 yards in a state semifinal win over Cocoa.

Bo O’Daniel, Cardinal Mooney

O’Daniel, a senior wide receiver, had two receptions for 63 yards and 2 TDs in a state semifinal win over Cocoa.

Basketball

Johnny Lackaff, Sarasota

Lackaff, a junior guard, scored 26 points to lead Sarasota to a 71-47 win over the IMG Black Team.

Elijah Price, Cardinal Mooney

Price, a junior power forward, scored 16 points with 10 rebounds and 6 blocks in a 60-43 win over Mitchell.

Soccer

Broden Beorlegui, Lakewood Ranch

Beorlegui, a senior forward, scored two goals with an assist in a 3-1 win over Riverview.

Angel Roblero, Braden River

Roblero, a senior forward, scored three goals in a 4-0 win over Manatee.

Kaeden Shouse, Cardinal Mooney

Shouse, a junior midfielder, scored both of Cardinal Mooney’s goals in a 2-1 win over Manatee.
