No other CB has done what Darious Williams has over the past 6 seasons

Los Angeles Rams starting cornerback Darious Williams is in a tier of his own in the secondary.

The 32-year-old, who’s played six of his eight seasons with L.A., has more pass breakups over the past six seasons than any other defender in the NFL, according to TruMedia, with 57.

Considering how many standout defensive backs have played from 2020 until now, this is quite impressive. Williams has also tallied 11 interceptions and 220 combined tackles during that stretch.

Now, not all of this has been for L.A. Williams, who played for the Rams in 2020 and 2021 before a three-year stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2022 to 2023. He rejoined L.A. this past season on a three-year deal.

Despite not being a clear starter for Chris Shula’s defense, he’s thrived in his role in the secondary. Williams has eight defended passes this season and 13 solo tackles. That’s despite missing Week 9 with a shoulder injury.

He is the veteran of the young group of defensive backs in L.A., and his experience is a significant reason why this unit is playing so well, despite having a clear star in the secondary. And when Akhello Witherspoon suffered a broken clavicle, Williams stepped up to maintain continuity for the defense.

The Rams defense wouldn’t be the same without Williams, and his ability to break up passes is a big reason why in 2025.
