The Detroit Lions signed Aidan Hutchinson to a four-year contract extension, his agent announced Wednesday, worth $180 million with $141 million guaranteed.
He is the ninth Lion to receive a contract extension since spring 2024, bringing the Lions’ total long-term commitment to their draft picks to nearly $1 billion – $968.5 million to be exact – to sign players who they believe are their nucleus.
They include: Hutchinson, quarterback Jared Goff, offensive tackle Penei Sewell, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, safety Kerby Joseph, defensive tackle Alim McNeill, offensive tackle Taylor Decker, running back David Montgomery and wide receiver Jameson Williams.
Here’s a breakdown of each of the nine contracts, including the total value and guaranteed amount:
DE Aidan Hutchinson
Hutchinson who has had six sacks and four forced fumbles through seven weeks this season signed his four-year extension on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
WR Jameson Williams
Williams, who the Lions traded up to take with the 12th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, signed his three-year extension on Sept. 6.
S Kerby Joseph
Joseph, who entered Week 9 of the 2025 season tied for second in interceptions, signed his $86 million deal earlier this year.
The deal made him the highest-paid safety in NFL history until the Baltimore Ravens signed Kyle Hamilton to a four-year extension in August.
DT Alim McNeill
A centerpiece of the Lions’ defensive line, the 6-foot-2, 315-pound tackle and third-round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft signed his contract extension on Oct. 15, 2024.
RB David Montgomery
Three days before signing McNeill, the Lions signed half of their star running back duo, Montgomery, to a two-year extension on Oct. 12, 2024, that keeps him a Lion through the 2027 season.
LT Taylor Decker
Detroit’s longest-tenured Lion signed his three-year, $60 million extension on July 29, 2024. The offensive lineman from Ohio State was the 16th pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown
St. Brown, tied for the NFL lead in receiving touchdowns this season, signed his four-year extension on April 24, 2024.
The extension put him among the highest-paid receivers in the NFL.
RT Penei Sewell
Sewell, who signed the same day as St. Brown, will continue to be a Lion through the 2029 season, after factoring in his fifth-year option.
The No. 7 overall pick in 2021 – the first selection by Lions general manager Brad Holmes – is one of the highest-paid offensive lineman in 2025.
QB Jared Goff
Goff, who just earlier this month eclipsed his Rams’ tenure, playing more games with the Lions than with the Los Angeles Rams, who drafted him No. 1 overall in 2016, signed his contract extension worth $212 million for four years on May 13, 2024.
Who is extension-eligible next year for Detroit?
Next year, 2023 NFL Draft picks RB Jahmyr Gibbs, LB Jack Campbell, S Brian Branch and TE Sam LaPorta will be extension-eligible for the first time.
