The San Francisco 49ers didn’t have the best safety group in the league in 2025, and with Jason Pinnock departing in free agency, general manager John Lynch should’ve addressed the position this offseason.
After refusing to add a safety in the first wave of free agency, or int he seven round of the 2026 NFL draft, the 49ers finally signed one Sunday night, as International Sports Agency announced that their client, Patrick McMorris, signed with San Francisco.
McMorris, 24, played at San Diego State, earning All-Mountain West honors twice, before transferring to California to finish out his collegiate career. The Miami Dolphins took him in the sixth round (No. 198 overall) of the 2024 NFL draft.
After appearing in just six games and recording one tackle as a rookie, the Dolphins released him. He then spent the 2025 season split between the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.
