Florida Highway Patrol troopers continue to search for the motorist who struck and killed a 61-year-old Melbourne motorcyclist in north Brevard before fleeing the scene.
The deadly crash happened about 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at U.S. 1 and Orbiter Court.
Investigators said an unknown vehicle was northbound, as was the unidentified rider of a 2025 Jiang Zhon motorcycle. The vehicle struck the rear of the motorcycle, causing the motorcyclist to be thrown into the roadway, troopers reported. The vehicle then left the scene.
First responders transported the motorcyclist to Parrish Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, records show.
