Boozy Tacos & Tap exits El Paso restaurant scene after 3 years, 2 locations

El Paso has one less taco place. Boozy Tacos & Tap, at 13649 Eastlake Blvd., closed at the beginning of October.

A sign on the door states, “Thank you for your patronage. This restaurant has permanently closed.”

A Boozy Tacos & Tap restaurant originally opened in November 2021 at 4860 Transmountain Road in Northeast El Paso. The restaurant was designed to have a laid-back, beach-bar style and offered a variety of tacos, including rolled tacos, as well as 19 different beers on tap.

Boozy Tacos & Tap first opened in Northeast El Paso in 2021, followed by a second location on Eastlake Boulevard. As of early October, both restaurants have permanently closed. The Northeast site has since been converted into a Wing Daddy’s Sauce House. The owners of Boozy Tacos also operate Wing Daddy’s and Toro Burger.

There are still plenty of taco places on the East Side. Here are three of our favorites:

Taco Central going strong on Eastlake

Taco Central, at 12320 Eastlake Blvd., Suite 103, is the latest eatery for longtime restaurateur Javier Robles. The restaurant is a unique blend of modern decor and vibe, complemented by traditional, homemade-style Mexican food, featuring a variety of tacos, flautas, and chile rellenos.

El Taquito is at the top of Yelp for Mexican restaurants

El Taquito, a Mexican restaurant especially popular with military families and visitors to El Paso, remains a strong presence in Yelp’s list of top restaurants in Texas. The restaurant, at 1422 Airway Blvd., has nearly 1,200 reviews.

The restaurant tucked behind another business is usually pretty busy around lunchtime, but it’s worth the wait. Aside from tasty tacos, try the caldo de rez.

El Toro Bronco serves traditional, tasty tacos

If a taco is not a taco unless it comes with half of an avocado and grilled onions on the side, you have to go with El Toro Bronco.

The one at 7689 North Loop Drive is usually packed, but worth driving around the parking lot for a spot. You can order four tacos for about $8 (vary the fillings), and it comes with avocado, grilled onions, a chile toreado, cilantro, and radish slices.

Additionally, you receive a complimentary bowl of charro beans and a plate of sliced jicama, carrots, and cucumbers accompanied by Tajin and lime.
