One person has died and two others suffered wounds in a shooting Monday afternoon, according to Wichita Falls police.
A Wichita Falls man was arrested in connection with the shooting and was being held Tuesday morning in Wichita County Jail with no bond set yet, according to online jail records.
The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. at the Brigadoon Apartments at 3220 Seymour Road, according to police, who advised on Facebook for people in the area to stay in their homes.
Police scanner traffic said the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle, which officers spotted nearby and surrounded.
Police said the suspect had been taken into custody.
Police identified the person who was killed as Debra Lucas, 61. Another victim, whom police did not identify, was listed in critical condition, and a third person was expected to be treated at a hospital and released.
Jeremy Patrick Gibson was booked into the Wichita County Jail early Tuesday, according to online jail records.
He was charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, jail records said.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless convicted beyond doubt in a court of law. Murder is punishable with 5 to 99 years or life in prison.
