(This article has been updated to add new information.)The Jacksonville Jaguars have downgraded linebacker Yasir Abdullah to out for Sunday’s Week 4 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Abdullah popped up on the Friday injury report with a hamstring injury. He was limited and was initially listed as questionable for this contest.
The injury may have occurred during Friday’s practice.
Through three games this season, Abdullah hasn’t played any snaps on defense, but he’s been a core special teams contributor.
Abdullah has played 54 snaps–the third-most on the team–across five of the six different units, according to PFF.
That’s a lot of snaps in that phase of the game that the Jaguars will now have to replace for this week’s game.
Abdullah is one of six linebackers on the 53-man roster, so it’s not a must that the Jaguars elevate someone from the practice squad. But if they want some additional special teams depth, Branson Combs could be an option.
Defensive ends BJ Green or Danny Striggow could be an option on special teams as well. Both have been inactive in each of the first three games.
