A San Angelo man has died following a car crash in Midland on Tuesday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened on Sept. 23 around 6 a.m. on State Highway 158 near FM 1379 and involved three vehicles, a release stated.
Fernando Daniel Gonzalez, 22, of Sonora was driving a 2012 Mack CXU with a trailer.
Daniel Lee Barrientez Jr., 46, of San Angelo was driving a 2015 GMC 3500.
Yaikel Hernandez Preito, 43, of Round Rock was driving a 2000 Freightliner with a trailer.
The preliminary information showed that Barrientez was traveling westbound on SH 158 in the left lane when Gonzalez failed to yield the right of way, turning from a private drive westbound into the left lane of SH 158, the DPS said in the media release.
Barrientez struck Gonzalez’s trailer and came to rest in the westbound lanes of SH 158, the DPS said. Gonzales was then struck by Preito who also traveling westbound.
Barrientez was pronounced deceased at the scene, the release stated.
“This crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time,” according to the release.
The Mildand Texas Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
