Even though it’s autumn, the Cincinnati Reds are in the heat of an MLB playoff race in the last week of the regular season.
With six games left to play, the Reds hold the last wild card spot in the National League. Recently, they swept the Chicago Cubs in a four-game series to tie with the New York Mets in the wild card standings at 80-72.
The Reds’ magic number to clinch the MLB postseason is 6. The Reds hold the third-place wild card with a tiebreaker over the Mets, who share an identical record but hold the head-to-head tie breaker going 4-2 against New York in the regular season.
The Reds have two in-division series to close out the 2025 season: three games against the Pittsburgh Pirates starting on Sept. 23 at home, and three on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers starting on Sept. 26.
