Two state police troopers injured after crash on Cedar Street Bridge in Peoria

A pair of Illinois State Police troopers were hospitalized Thursday morning after a collision with a vehicle on the Cedar Street Bridge in Peoria.

State police said at 6:07 a.m., they responded to a three-car crash involving a vehicle and two troopers, who were operating motorcycles.

Both troopers were transported to a hospital, according to a release from the Peoria Fire Department. One trooper sustained minor injuries, while the other suffered serious injuries, the release said.

No injuries were reported to the occupants of the car involved in the collision.

The bridge was closed for over an hour as police investigated the collision, eventually reopening at 7:13 a.m.

State police are continuing to investigate the collision.
