Two lucky Illinois Powerball players won $1 million this past weekend after matching five numbers, according to an Illinois Lottery press release.
Several other participants throughout the state made big wins as well, with prizes ranging from $50,000-100,000, the release says.

Illinois Powerball winners
Two Illinois players won $1 million each on Sept. 6. One ticket was purchased at Skokie Citgo, located at 5343 Touhy Ave., while the other was purchased through the Illinois Lottery app.
Four players also won $100,000, with winning tickets purchased in Gilman, Chicago, Lemont and on the Illinois Lottery app.
Five winning tickets for $50,000 were purchased in Effingham, Worth, Viola, Geneva and Warrenville.
How much Powerball money has been won in Illinois?
Since the Powerball roll began on June 2, 2025, nearly 1.7 million winning tickets have been sold, and over $20 million in prizes have been won by Illinois Lottery players, according to the release.
How long do you have to redeem Powerball tickets?
Winners have one year from the draw date to claim their prize. The Illinois Lottery encourages winners to sign the back of their ticket and store it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their prize.
How to buy Powerball tickets
You can purchase Powerball tickets online or at any Illinois Lottery retailer. Find a store near you on the Illinois Lottery website.
When do they draw Powerball?
Powerball drawings are on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 9:59 p.m. CT. Drawing results can be found on the Illinois Lottery website, the official Illinois Lottery app, on powerball.com or at Illinois Lottery retail locations.
When’s the next Powerball drawing?
The next Powerball drawing will be on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
