Menifee woman, 63, killed after car tumbles off side of Highway 138 near Phelan

The California High Patrol is investigating a solo-car crash along Highway 138 south of Phelan that left a 63-year-old Menifee woman dead on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash was first reported about 2:50 p.m. on the highway at Rancho De La Garto, in an unincorporated portion of San Bernardino County, according to CHP logs.

Initial reports indicated a sedan overturned at least twice as it left the roadway and came to a rest on its roof about 100 feet from the highway.

Vickie Y. Presely succumbed to her injuries at the scene, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s records.

There was no initial indication any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

No further details were available as they investigation continued Saturday night.
