Bears' latest roster moves include Austin Booker landing on IR

The Chicago Bears announced several roster moves on Thursday, which includes both active roster and practice squad. But there’s one notable one that stands above the rest.

The Bears have placed defensive end Austin Booker on short-term injured reserve, which means he’ll be out at least the first four games of the 2025 season. He’s eligible to return in Week 6 against the Washington Commanders on Oct. 13 (as Chicago has a bye week in Week 5).

The Bears also re-signed long snapper Scott Daly and wide receiver Devin Duvernay to the active roster just one day after releasing them to make room for their new waiver claim additions. In a corresponding roster move, Chicago released linebacker Carl Jones.

There was also movement on the practice squad, where the Bears signed tight end Nikola Kalinic and defensive backs Dontae Manning and Gervarrius Owens, which marks the first outside additions to the practice squad. In corresponding roster moves, the Bears released long snapper Luke Elkin and defensive back Mekhi Garner from the practice squad.
