Google has a new way to help you find local news and trusted information from the Des Moines Register.
The search engine recently launched a new “preferred sources” feature that “lets you customize your experience to see more from your favorite sites within Top Stories.”
According to Google, “you can select your favorite sources and stay up to date on the latest content from the sites you follow and subscribe to — whether that’s your favorite sports blog or a local news outlet.”
Here’s how to add the Des Moines Register to your “preferred sources.”
What is Google’s ‘preferred sources’ feature?
Launched on Aug. 12, the feature allows you to curate i.e., filter your news experience by source preference.
Any time you run a query, or a keyword through the search engine, content from your preferred sources will be featured more prominently, allowing you to get more local results and information from sources that you trust.
According to Google, you can add, or change your preferred sources any time.
“When you select your preferred sources, you’ll start to see more of their articles prominently displayed within Top Stories, when those sources have published fresh and relevant content for your search,” Google said.
