MassMu’s Brown Bag Lunch—“Honeys of the Hooch”
Hear some sordid stories about female moonshiners, bootleggers and rumrunners at the Aug. 26 Brown Bag Lunch at the Massillon Museum.
Lynette Reiner, science director at the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum, will present her “Honeys of the Hooch” program at 12:10 p.m.
Brown Bag Lunch events are free and open to everyone with no reservations required. American Sign Language interpretation is provided.
Guests are invited to bring sack lunches or purchase lunch at the new TWiLite Café in the lobby. The café offers smoothies, sandwiches, paninis, salads, soup and bakery treats. MassMu provides complimentary cookies and coffee.
Reiner graduated from the University of Akron with a double major in comprehensive social studies and interdisciplinary anthropology. She earned a master’s degree in zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She interned at the Summit County Historical Society as an archivist and at the Akron Jewish Community Center, teaching history and religion. She volunteered at the Akron Zoo in animal interpretation and care, participated at the Fort Laurens Flux Gate dig with the Ohio Historical Society, and worked at Inventure Place in Akron. Before becoming science director, she was Discover World manager at the McKinley Museum.
The Brown Bag Lunch series, sponsored by the Massillon/North Canton Elks Lodge 2029, is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. The Massillon Museum is also grateful for operating support from the Ohio Arts Council, ArtsinStark, and the citizens of Massillon, as well as marketing support from Visit Canton.
MassMu is located at 121 Lincoln Way East in downtown Massillon. A visit is always free. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city lots. For more information, call 330-833-4061 or visit massillonmuseum.org.
